Privacy and confidentiality

The content of our sessions is confidential. This means that I won't talk about what you tell me outside our sessions, except in the following circumstances:

- I have regular clinical supervision with a qualified professional where I discuss my work in confidence. This is standard practice and is required for all members of the BACP in order to ensure that the counsellor's work is safe, ethical and effective. 

- If I believe that you or someone else is in danger, I may need to break confidentiality. Similarly, there are rare occasions when counsellors are legally obliged to disclose what their clients tell them (for example, in relation to terrorism legislation).

Any personal information you give me will be kept safe and secure and will only be used for the purpose it was given to me.

I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (Ref: ZB856564) and any information I keep is subject to the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 18) and United Kingdom General Data Protection Legislation UK.
